Also RT1 360 used a shorter filter.  Will not work without modifying it. ( CUT SHORTER)                                                                         

(Note 1972 DT-2 250 uses NU-2201 same filter but 5 1/2", one half inch longer Just because your bike was Manufactured in 1971 It may still be a 1972 model year also if made in the last part of 1969 it may be a 1970 model so look close.  

Note - many Yamaha's have had parts switched around. Look close and order once.
